Cosmetic Dentistry Services That Will Improve Your Smile and Confidence

Teeth Whitening

There are dozens of foods and drinks that can stain our teeth, including tea and coffee, red wine, soda, tomato sauces, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. Smoking can impact the color of your teeth as well. After years of smoking or eating these foods and drinks, it’s natural for our teeth to start fading from their natural bright white color. Professional teeth whitening is a quick and effective way to bring back that natural shine. James W. Mellert DDS and associates uses safe bleaching technology that can be used on the upper or bottom teeth, or both. The treatment takes between an hour and an hour and a half.

Dental Crowns

Crowns can be used to repair teeth that have chipped, broken, or tooth decay has damaged the structure of the tooth. The affected tooth will typically be either trimmed down or built up, depending on the shape of the tooth, so that the crown will fit on top. An impression of the tooth will be made and the crown will be created in a lab. In the meantime, a temporary crown will be placed. At the final appointment, the temporary crown will be removed and the permanent crown applied. When the procedure is complete, it will appear as if you have a new, natural tooth.

Bonding

Dental bonding is often used as an alternative to veneers since it’s less expensive and can be completed in one appointment. The treatment can be used to restore teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored, or misarranged. During the procedure, the surface of the tooth is slightly etched and a liquid bonding material is applied to the tooth. The liquid is given time to cure, a plastic resin is applied, and then sculptured to the desired shape.

Dental Implants

Dental implants, though a more invasive procedure, can replace teeth that have been severely damaged by decay or injury. The process involves extracting the tooth or teeth, a titanium post is implanted, an abutment is attached to the post, and then a crown or false tooth is attached to the abutment. The benefit of dental implants is that the jaw bone heals around the post, which prevents the mouth from sustaining further structural damage. In these cases, dentures may be an alternative, but dental implants offer an option that is more secure and not removable. Dental implants are made look very natural.

Dental Veneers

Similar to dental bonding, veneers are a very thin porcelain shell that is applied to the front of the teeth. The teeth will be slightly ground down to make room for the veneer, an impression of your teeth will be made, and the veneers are created in a lab. The completed veneers are then bonded to the front of the teeth. Veneers are also designed to look like your natural teeth, and you can even select the shade of white.

Tooth Straightening

If you didn’t have braces growing up or your teeth have shifted since they were taken off, the team at James W. Mellert DDS and Associates offers Invisalign treatments. A clear plastic aligner will be made, which is placed over the teeth and worn to help gradually shift the teeth into place. New aligners will be created at intervals of around two weeks to a month that will further help the teeth shift into a straight line. The treatment takes between 12 to 18 months.

If you’re not confident with your smile, there are several options available that can help, and the team at James W. Mellert DDS and associates would be happy to go over which option is best for you. A straight, white, and healthy smile can truly make a difference in our confidence, and our team has the knowledge and experience to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible.
