The recent COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we do a lot of things. Most people are spending more time at home, taking extra care to distance themselves from others when they’re out at the store, and refraining from partaking in anything that could potentially increase risk.
At James W. Mellert, DDS and Associates in Torrance, we don’t want you to worry about choosing between your oral health and increasing your risk for getting COVID, and that’s why we’ve established a rigorous set of protocols to ensure the safety of our patients, doctors, and employees. Keep reading to learn more about them and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our dental clinic.
The following is a list of the new safety precautions we are taking at our dental clinic. We hope that you’ll feel secure in knowing that we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our patients. If you or your family needs dental care, please call our office to make an appointment.
We Ask Screening Questions
When you call us to make your appointment, be prepared to answer a series of screening questions. We won’t get too personal, but we’ll ask if you’ve been sick lately, or have had a temperature.
We Ask That You Call From Your Car
When you arrive at our office, we’ll ask that you first call from your car before coming in. This is to ensure that we have plenty of room for distancing between patients.
We Ask That All Patients Wear a Face Mask
For your protection and the protection of those around you, we ask that all of our patients wear a face mask. You’ll need to wear it upon entering the building and until you sit down in the dental chair.
We Will Take Your Temperature and Offer You Hand Sanitizer
Upon arriving at the front desk, one of our staff will take your temperature using a forehead thermometer. Since a high temperature is a symptom of COVID-19, anyone exhibiting signs of fever may be asked to leave.
Air filtration Systems Have Been Added to All Rooms
To reduce the potential for airborne viruses from traveling through the air, we’ve elected to install air filtration systems in all rooms.
Antimicrobial Rinse Given Before Treatment
COVID-19 is known for being transferred through the nose and mouth. Therefore, another safety measure we’ll take is to ask you to gargle with an antimicrobial rinse before treatment.
Face Masks and Shields Will Be Worn By Staff
Not only will our staff be wearing face masks, but they will also be wearing a full-face shield during your treatment.
Surfaces Will Be Sanitized
Between each patient, all surfaces will be thoroughly sanitized to help reduce any potential for cross-contamination.
Disinfection of Reception Areas
All waiting room and administrative areas are thoroughly disinfected at multiple times throughout the day.
